Frock & Roll, Fashion That Truly Rocks!

High Fashion Designs, Emerging Designers, Students Showing the love for art and fashion!

The exhibit at The Baum School of Art in Allentown that runs until March 2nd, is called Frock & Roll, Fashion that Rocks they said and surely it did on Saturday night at the Designer Meet and Greet & Student Fashion Show.  The wildly exciting collection of  clothing, shoes, and  accessories on display in the Galleries is fun, innovative, inventive, provocative,  and high artistic expression.  Pieces have been assembled from emerging designers, some from Project Runway fame, and other pieces from iconic designers on loan from private collections.  This exhibit coincides with Who Shot Rock and Roll at the Allentown Art Museum and calls to anyone and everyone that loves to be inspired and wowed by artists that push limits and know no boundaries.  Once again a must see in the Valley.  Get there quickly though, as the fashion exhibition ends on March 2nd.

This weekend visitors that attended the special event Designer Meet and Greet and Student Fashion show were entertained by local dancers from Repertory Dance Theatre and music students from the Community Music School.  The fashion show creations showcased were from the students of The Baum School of Art and Lehigh Carbon Community College and were wide ranging in styles and creativity. Afterwards students and attendees got to mix it up with the many designers at a high energy meet and greet event.  Newcomers to fashion, veterans of fashion, local boutique owners, proud parents of art students, students themselves, all united to further enhance the creative spirit and artistic vision.  It was a most impressive collaboration and extra inspirational as it is all taking place right here in the artful Lehigh Valley!

Pamela Ptak, courterier and educator at The Baum School is the exhibit curator.  The following designers are all have work featured in the exhibit:

Joseph Balestra, Ben Pappadeas Chmura, Comme des Garcons – Junya Wantanabe, Rafael Cox, Ann Demeulemeester, Marla Duran, Brianna Fano, Jean Paul Gaultier, Gina Going, Gucci, Scott Hanna, Kristin Haskins Simms, Annie Haslam, Mila Hermanovski, Yoshiki Hishinuma, Betsey Johnson, Annina King, Alexander McQueen, Moschino, Hannah Nour, Pamela Ptak, Jay Nicolas Sario, Camilla Skovgaard London, Vivienne Westwood, Ping Wu, Glen Yank, Yves Saint Laurent, Stella Zotis

One final note of interest, Pamela Ptak along with Annie Haslam, amazing vocalist of Renaissance & artist, collaborated on a special gown in the exhibit.  Inspired by a song and  painting of Annie’s and designed by Ptak this extraordinary piece blends art and design and silk printing in a fabulous expression of fashion.  Don’t miss it!
